Welcome to the first installment of 3 of this year’s Power Rankings and More Bowl Predictions hosted by me because it is my opinions.  Enjoy!

(Saturday, December 19th)

Gildan New Mexico Bowl: Arizona vs. New Mexico (2:00 ESPN)-

Alirght, so Arizona was a huge disappointment this year.  I get that there were some injuries like to one to the like of Scooby Wright, but shouldn’t Rich-Rod have had a larger depth chart than that?  I don’t know if you guys realized this, but this is the Gildan NEW MEXICO Bowl.  What does that mean?  It means that the stadium will be mostly filled with fans of the Lobos because it is played where they play.  This is going to be an interesting test for the Wildcats.

  • The pick is New Mexico.

Royal Purple Las Vegas Bowl: BYU vs. 24 Utah (3:30 ABC)-

The Holy War has gone into a bowl game.  I think that the Las Vegas Bowl is a perfect fit for these two teams.  I think that they will sell out the stadium.  BYU and Utah had similar seasons, but not really at the same time.  BYU got off to a hot start after a couple of Hail Mary’s and Utah started as a playoff contender and then got trounced by USC.  You know, basic Utah fun.  Now, these two teams meet for the 96th time with Utah leading the overall series 57-34-4.  Also, this is the last game for Bronco Mendenhall as head coach at BYU as he has accepted the HC job at Virginia.

  • The pick is BYU.

Raycom Media Camellia Bowl: Ohio vs. Appalachian St. (5:30 ESPN)-

Appalachian St. is in a bowl game in just their second year in the FBS.  They were bowl eligible last year at 7-5, but didn’t go to a bowl game because of NCAA rules and other crap like that.  This year, they are 10-2 and hungry for 11 wins and their first bowl victory.  They can do it.  Ohio hasn’t been good enough for a while and it is time for the Sun Belt to finally reign supreme.

  • The pick is Appalachian St.

Autonation Cure Bowl: San José St. vs. Georgia St. (7:00 CBSSN)-

Honestly, who gives a ****?  ESPN didn’t even want to pick up this game.  The fact that San José St. is in a bowl game makes me sick.  They barely even made it to 5 wins this year.  Holy balls.  Georgia St., please just win it for the Sun Belt.

  • The pick is Georgia St.

R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl: Arkansas St. vs. Louisiana Tech (9:00 ESPN)-

If Arkansas St. wasn’t in the Sun Belt, they could be a 1-11 team.  That is how much faith I have in Arkansas St.  I also have the same amount of faith in Louisiana Tech after they botched their Conference-USA Title aspirations after they lost to Southern Miss the week before.  This bowl game is missing something.  Oh I know what it is!  They are missing that certain thing.  They are missing Louisiana-Lafayette, who has been in this bowl game for the last 4 years.

  • The pick is Louisiana Tech.

(Monday, December 21st)

Miami Beach Bowl: 18 Western Kentucky vs. South Florida (2:30 ESPN)-

Last year, the Miami Beach Bowl was the most fun to watch out of all of the non-New Year’s Six bowls.  Memphis and BYU put on a great game, followed by a huge brawl afterward.  This year, the brawl might not be there, but this is going to be a highly entertaining game.  Western Kentucky and Brandon Doughty have taken Western Kentucky to an 11 win season, looking for 12, while Willie Taggart has turned his Bulls around with an amazing coaching job.  Expect points in this one.

  • The pick is Western Kentucky.

(Tuesday, December 22nd)

Famous Idaho Potato Bowl: Akron vs. Utah St. (3:30 ESPN)-

Usually this is a opening day type deal, but no.  This is going to be Utah State’s 2nd time playing on this turf this season.  Last time they played here, they forced 8 turnovers.  Akron has no chance, except they do at the same time.

  • The pick is Utah St.

Marmot Boca Raton Bowl: 25 Temple vs. Toledo (7:00 ESPN)-

This is the 2nd year of the Boca Raton Bowl.  This year’s matchup is going to be very fun because Temple and Toledo were two Group of 5 contenders for a New Year’s Six bowl for most of the year until things fell apart in the end.  Both of these teams don’t want to be playing here.  This game might just come down to a few trick plays and who wants it more than the other.

  • The pick is Temple.

(Wednesday, December 23rd)

San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl: Boise St. vs. Northern Illinois (4:30 ESPN)-

These two schools have had quite the successful seasons over the years, both going to either a BCS or New Year’s Six bowl.  This year was a bit of a different story as both team failed to even win their conference title game.  Boise St. shot themselves in the foot over the years with fighting the turnover battle.  They will need to tone that down in the game in order to win.  The size factor of Boise St. to Northern Illinois also comes into play for this one.

  • The pick is Boise St.

Godaddy Bowl: Georgia Southern vs. Bowling Green (8:00 ESPN)-

It is the high-powered passing offense of Bowling Green vs. Georgia Southern’s triple option run attack.  This is Georgia Southern’s first bowl game.  They were eligible for one last year, but weren’t allowed to go because of dumb NCAA rules that don’t mean anything, but actually do at the same time.  This is also the first time the Godaddy Bowl is being played this early in the bowl season.

  • The pick is Bowling Green.

(Thursday, December 24th)

Popeyes Bahamas Bowl: Middle Tennessee St. vs. Western Michigan (12:00 ESPN)-

Everyone should remember the finish to last year’s Popeyes Bahamas Bowl.  If that isn’t the case, then check out this video courtesy of Central Michigan Athletics.

For this year’s game, expect to see a very wild one.  These two teams are trying to get their programs back on track and a win here will propel them to the great beyond in the Group of 5 conferences.  Trust me.

  • The pick is Western Kentucky.

Hawaii Bowl: San Diego St. vs. Cincinnati (8:00 ESPN)-

This bowl is the weirdest of them all because it is played in Hawaii and it is on Christmas Eve.  Like, I am at church during the game, awaiting the morning where I can be with my family and open presents.  In all seriousness, San Diego St. did great in Mountain West play, going 8-0, plus a Mountain West Title victory over Air Force.  San Diego St. went 1-3 out of conference, with the only win coming to an FCS team in San Diego.  They also have quarterback concerns with Maxwell Smith not practicing.  On the other hand, you have Cincinnati, who had an under-developing season in the American Conference and only getting one win over a team that was better than 6-6.  That team was Miami (FL).  This one comes down to travel for me and who had the more dominating season in their conference.

  • The pick is San Diego St.
